A Timeless
Take
THE CITY OF LOVE AT SUNSET // BY Ian Curcio
and they'd just scaled the forty
steps to the top of the Parisian
landmark. Curico had his X100
Fujiflm in hand, a powerful,
pocket-sized camera with a
23mm fxed lens that lends itself
to street photography as much
as anything.
"I knew I wanted to capture
Paris as a city, not focus on the
details," the South Carolina-based
photographer explains. "I did a
little research before we went and
knew that shooting from the Arc
de Triomphe was going to give
me that timeless image of Paris
with the streets, buildings and, of
course, the Eiffel Tower."
He never intended for the photo
to end up anywhere other than
perhaps a wall in their home.
"I'm happy that people are
enjoying it," Curico says. "But I
shot this for me and Ana."

Taken in October

Eiffel Tower was shot
from the top of the
Arc de Triomphe as
the sun was setting.
SOME PHOTOS WERE NEVER meant
to be published. They are for a
private collection, and that is all.
But when they do see the light
of day, that's part of what makes
them so great.
Photographer Ian Curico
and his newlywed wife, Ana, a
journalist, were honeymooning
in Paris when he took this shot
from the top of the Arc de
Triomphe. The sun was setting
