PHOTOGRAPHER IAN CURCIO FOUND INSPIRATION RISING
IN THE DISTANCE // BY Jack Bacot
BUILT IN 1961 FOR THE 1962 WORLD'S FAIR, Seattle's Space Needle has become a landmark for
the city and served as inspiration for many artists. Photographer Ian Curcio was visiting
Seattle when he looked out the window of his room on the forty-sixth foor of the Westin
Hotel and noted a stunning view of the city. "The view had me eye level with the Space
Needle," he says. "As the fog began to roll in, it slowly consumed the structure, offering
an otherworldly view, and I knew this was the image I wanted to capture."
