Explaining her decision to focus more on the trio, Jarosz says, "We've been playing in that confguration for about three years or so now. It seems like the natural thing to do, because that really felt sonically like me. I'm trying more and more to fnd my sound, and I think that was the key part of it." Hargreaves and Smith have now appeared on all of Jarosz's albums and regularly accompany her on tour. The concentration on the trio enables the album to translate seamlessly onstage in a live setting, making it more performance friendly. However, Build Me Up from Bones does not abandon collaborations. Chris Thile, who is the mandolinist and a vocalist for progressive bluegrass quintet Punch Brothers, is featured on the album. Dan Dugmore, a session musician who has recorded with Linda Ronstadt and James Taylor, plays elec- tric guitar on "Mile on the Moon" and "Over the Edge." Jarosz has a penchant for including cover songs on her albums, and Build Me Up from Bones has her versions of Joanna Newsom's "The Book of RightOn" and Bob Dylan's "Simple Twist of Fate." Jarosz's vocals and Smith on cello transform "Simple Twist of Fate" into a jazzy tune with hints of bluegrass. It is especially through these covers that one can see her artistry shine. At age sixteen, Jarosz was signed to Nashville's Americana record label Fall 2013 . Tempus-Magazine.com 29
