Vignettes A Higher serving the world through aviation Plane Global flight relief: W When crisis and conflict hit major population centers, it's impossible to watch the media without witnessing all the pain and suffering. Humanitarian aid and emergency response organizations rally to collect the food, medical supplies and personnel needed to respond to the disaster. However, they rarely have the transportation resources or logistical expertise to deliver the supplies where they are needed most. In response to this delivery dilemma, Global Flight Relief was established in 2011 in order to provide a sophisticated aviation organization dedicated to disaster relief, humanitarian aid and emergency response. Twenty years in the making, Global Flight Relief (GFR) is the vision of Scott Terry. During his 22 years of experience in government and corporation aviation, Terry witnessed frst hand the atrocities visited on communities during political unrest beginning with the mass migration and slaughter of Iraqi Kurds in Northern Iraq and Southern Turkey in 1991. Three years later, the Rwandan Genocide left more than one million people dead. In 1996, he participated in the frst air drops into Kosovo for Bosnian refugees. These events–coupled with the devastating natural disasters of recent earthquakes, famines, hurricanes, and tsunamis–left a lasting impression and inspired him to create a non-proft company dedicated to providing aviation assistance. Terry, founder and chairman of the board of GFR summarizes, "Humanitarian aid and emergency response organizations meet enormous demand with limited budgets. Most simply can't afford to fy their doctors or aid workers into the isolated communities where the need remains unmet. We help get them there." 26 Tempus-Magazine.com .
