29 of Famer Owen "Davo" Davidson. But here, too, it's not the world- class facilities alone that set it apart, but the people who bring life to them. Nigel, for example, is the resident tennis instructor who has worked at Curtain Bluff for years, and will remember you every time you visit. Like Nigel, each and every staff member has the uncanny ability to remember not only your name, but details like your child's favorite food and whether you prefer to spend your afternoons at the beach or the pool. Curtain Bluff is a food-, wine-, water-sport-flled family, one in which members give mutually, and selfessly. And isn't that what family holidays are all about? One of the biggest reasons for the success of the program is the pas- sionate involvement of Curtain Bluff's guests. With a 65 percent repeat guest ratio—an extremely high number in hospitality—guests become a part of the resort family and community, and wish to contribute to it as much as they desire to beneft from it. As a result, about 50 percent of the con- tributions toward the Old Road Fund come from guests' donations. However, resort guests not only con- tribute fnancially to the community, but become a tangible aspect of its success, and fnd themselves forever a part of the Old Road Fund story. Take, for instance, the eye doctor who, upon learning that an employee's daughter was born without an eye, few the mother and daughter to the States and performed successful surgery on her, forever changing their lives. Of course, Curtain Bluff guests' loy- alty also has much to do with the bare- foot luxury and elegance for which the resort is known. Each of its rooms and suites offers sweeping ocean views and private balconies, many with Jacuzzis and expansive living spaces. Afternoon tea and an English-built squash court channel Antigua's co- lonial British past, while small and large luxuries alike—from indulgent spa treatments to Cuban cigars and vintage wines—make it just the right amount of decadent. Te tennis program, however, is one of the resort's biggest draws; its championship courts play host to four special tennis events each year led by instructor pros such as Annabel Croft, Andrew Castle, and International Hall
